How to resolve PCB EQ (Engineering Questions)
EQ means engineering question, which is sent to customers during quotation or production stage. If we find something unclear or queries regarding your data, and those issues may have influence on prices or products, usually we send a formal EQ word document to customer. Possible reasons are:
- The data is not complete – e.g. the drill file is missing
- The data is ambiguous – e.g. top and bottom layers are not clearly defined
- The design does not meet the specifications – e.g. the minimum track or annular rings are below the minimum values
- There is a mismatch between the data supplied and the requirements itself – e.g. the order calls for 2 legends and only 1 file is supplied.

For some simple rules of better PCB gerber data, please refer to article 10 Rules for Better PCB Gerber Data.
SDY always run 100% pre-production checks on customer data, in order to improve our production performance and avoid possible mistakes on provided data.
Our engineers usually provide two or more proposals to resolve the EQ questions, according to the industrial standard, factory capacity or common practice. If the recommended proposal is suitable for you, then choose one of the suitable proposals. Otherwise, you may provide your solutions. It may take some time during this asking and answering process, due to the different working hours between SDY and customers from all over the world. So your clear answers or explanation of EQ questions and quick reply would expedite this process, and saves precious time for your order.
For any PCB questions or queries, please feel free to contact Alex@sdy-pcb.com or contact our engineers. Your feedback or comments will be replies in priority.
