What information is necessary for PCB quotation? In order to find out the answer, we have to know what kind of factors have influence on the PCB prices. Well, this would be complicated to consider every details of the PCB. But we are trying to make it simple, because the person who would have such question is not familiar with PCBs. So this article provides a simple explanation on the answers of this question.

It requires following most basic information to estimate the PCB cost, layers, size, thickness, material, copper thickness, surface finish. Those are the most general and basic factors of PCB cost. And it is able to estimate the cost for simple or standard PCBs from 1 layer to 8 layers.

It is easy to understand that the layer influences the cost. Different layers have different cost on coppers, and decide whether it is necessary to have lamination process.

Nowadays, it is common to calculate the PCB cost by dimensions measured in square meters, because the laminate material takes the largest part of total cost, and the laminate materials are measured in square meters. And the other cost would be shared in average according to square meters. So the size is very important on cost.

Regarding the PCB laminate material, the most important properties are thickness, TG temperature and copper thickness. The laminate material cost is mostly depending on those three factors. So we have to know those three factors to estimate the laminate material cost.
